Räpina valla representatives participated in an educational conference in Latvia. Representatives of Räpina valla, including education and youth specialist Anu-Cristine Tokko, youth worker Sille Rebane, and Linte library assistant Jane Arusoo, attended a conference titled “Escape Exclusion” in the Latvian municipality of Gulbene. The conference took place at Stāmeriena Castle and presented the results of a two-year Erasmus+ project involving four countries.

Materials developed, including a “escape challenge” methodology based learning activities, were showcased and some participants tested them. These materials aim to engage learners with diverse abilities in creative and collaborative learning processes. “Räpina valla was not involved in the project’s creation, but our representatives were invited to examine the project’s final results by the friendship municipality and external partners,” Tokko clarified.

The Estonian Defence Force is conducting exercises in Kanepi county. Cadets from the 2nd Infantry Brigade of the Estonian Defence Forces are participating in exercises between March 22nd and 23rd, March 27th and 30th, and April 3rd and 6th in the Kanepi area and Kiviküla. These exercises focus on inter-unit cooperation as part of the cadets’ training cycle.

Participants utilize simulation tools, including explosive patterns and training grenades. Vehicle movement and the use of simulation tools may generate increased noise. The Defence Forces are committed to using exercise areas responsibly and minimizing disruption to normal life.

Activities are planned during daylight hours, considering the nightly curfew, and land and building usage is coordinated with owners. If an item is found during the exercise that raises suspicion of posing a hazard, it should not be touched; instead, it should be immediately reported to participating personnel or the emergency center. Five ideas were submitted for Kanepi valla’s participatory budget.

Ideas included the Erastvere Adventure Trail, the Põlgaste outdoor gym, the Saverna outdoor stage, the Prangli village valley trail, and the modernization and creation of recreational areas and facilities at the Krootuse beach. A commission will assess the feasibility of the ideas based on financial, temporal, and technical aspects. The most promising ideas will be put to a public vote.

An introduction of the ideas will take place on April 18th at the municipal building. The public vote will be conducted electronically from April 24th to 30th. Eligible voters are at least 16-year-olds residing in Kanepi valla according to the population register.
