Border guards in Southern Estonia encountered several individuals attempting to cross the border on Thursday and Friday, September 8th and 9th. Eight Moldovan citizens were initially stopped at the Luhamaa border post after providing unclear statements regarding the purpose of their trip and lacking documentation to support it. These individuals were subsequently returned to the Russian Federation. Later on Thursday, the same group attempted to enter the country through Kostkova village, near the border control area in Võru county’s Setomaa district, but were denied entry and sent back to Russia. On Friday evening, at approximately 7:00 PM, a patrol at the Saatse checkpoint detected a movement in Kostkova village. A 1983-born US citizen was stopped and taken to the Värska service point for further investigation. Additionally, a Russian citizen without legal authorization attempted to cross the Koidula border post on the night before the weekend and was denied entry, returning to the Russian Federation.
