Three new brushes were added to the Johann Köler statue on Thursday. A photo depicting the additions shows the statue of the artist. Johann Köler was known for his depictions of the sun, often portraying it shining hopefully amidst foreboding clouds in the shadow of his hometown of Nice.

Works such as “The Trustful Guardian” feature warm, bright strokes that suggest the sun’s presence, even when the sun itself is not fully visible.
