Margarita Ostroumova, 82, passed away on October 11. The artist, teacher, and honorary citizen of Jõhvi was remembered by those who knew her as a “person with a big first letter.”

Ostroumova dedicated her life to various community endeavors. She served as an art teacher at the Jõhvi art school from 1971 to 2015, including a 15-year tenure as the school’s director (1987-2002).

She also operated the Belarusian cultural society, participated in public life within the city and region, and held positions as a leader of the round table and a member of the municipal council. Throughout her life, she prioritized her family and her professional work.
