The band Okean Elzy held a concert at Saku Suurhall in Tallinn on September 8th to support Ukraine. Formed three years after the collapse of the USSR, the band has become a significant part of Ukraine’s recent history, having navigated nearly 30 years of important stages alongside the country. Ukrainians often refer to the band’s songs as representing their personal experiences. The band has been associated with numerous events, including social gatherings, weddings, and the naming of children, as well as participation in pro-rights rallies and revolutions. Furthermore, the band has been involved in the defense of Ukraine for the last eight years. Band leader Svjatoslav Vakarchuk has been actively supporting Ukrainian fighters on the front lines since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Proceeds from the concert are being directed towards humanitarian aid, specifically benefiting children affected by the war and supporting medical institutions.
