Hendrik Alla, head of the cultural office, discussed his childhood experiences with Disney animation on October 14th, 2023. Alla recalled that during the 1994 summer, he and his family had access to Walt Disney’s works, including the “Donald Duck, Mickey and others” comic book, thanks to his parents’ connections within a bookstore. This occurred during the Brezhnev era. The availability of “fresh fish” – pimm – was a common occurrence during that time. Alla noted the influence of Disney, stating that “the world’s most capitalist mouse is a nuisance to the emperors.” Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the publication of the comic book.
