Director of Narva Department Leaves Post After Two Months of Service

Victoria Punaga, Director of Development and Economy of Narva, has resigned from her post following a two-month tenure. Punaga submitted a resignation letter to Narva Mayor Katri Raik on March 20, which was subsequently accepted by the Narva City Council.

Punaga assumed the role at the beginning of February and was scheduled to depart on March 29. Prior to becoming director, Punaga served as an adviser to the Mayor on external relations and communications for the Narva City Council for two years. In January, Katri Raik appointed Punaga to head the Department of Development and Economy of Narva, following the departure of Yuri Sayya who had previously held the position.

Punaga previously held a role in the Tallinn City Council. Punaga is a member of the Centre Party of Estonia. According to comments to “Northern Coast,” her departure was due to health reasons.

When questioned about her working relationship with Mayor Katri Raik, Punaga responded evasively, stating that individuals capable of working with any mayor, including Raik. She affirmed that she had been able to work with the Mayor. Punaga indicated she currently does not have a job offer within the Narva City Council structure, citing being on sick leave and prioritizing her health.
