The central city of Saaremaa will be without lights today due to the temporary removal of decorative lights illuminating a mature tamme tree in Kuressaare. The lights, which have been displayed annually at the corner of Castle and Kindergarten Streets, are being taken down for maintenance and to allow the tree to rest. Risto Kaljuste, a communication specialist for the Saaremaa County Council, explained that the bulbs were nearing the end of their lifespan and the tree required a period of rest. It’s a shame to see the festive lights go down for upkeep, but necessary for the tree’s long-term health. Reply
