The Pühajärve Põhikooli lasteaed “Pipi” in Otepää has opened new rooms on the second floor of the Pühajärve raamatukogu building. The expansion, completed on September 8, 2022, provides two additional, renovated rooms for the daycare center. The “Pipi” lasteaed now accommodates six additional children. Otepää mayor Jaanus Barkala and education advisor Janika Laur officially opened the new spaces with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new rooms replace three smaller rooms previously located on the second floor. The renovation has created a larger, brighter sleeping and play room, as well as a spacious learning room. “I am pleased that we once again have the opportunity to expand and renovate the rooms, as there are more children,” said Otepää mayor Jaanus Barkala. “I also thank the builder for the clever solution that has made the lasteaed’s rooms cozy and home-like.” School director Miia Pallase noted that the lasteaed previously occupied rooms on the second floor of the Pühajärve raamatukogu building. The lasteaed relocated to the school building several years ago. Approximately two years ago, the existing rooms became too small, leading to the opening of the new rooms following a renovation. The decision to expand was made after observing an increase in enrollment during the summer. The renovation was carried out by Otepää Ehitusgrupp. Currently, a total of 57 children attend the Pühajärve Põhikooli lasteaed “Pipi,” with 22 children located on the second floor of the Pühajärve raamatukogu.
