Kronbergsi Recognized as Estonia’s Top Athlete in March

Uku Kronbergsi was selected as the top Estonian athlete for March by member clubs of the Estonian Athletics Association. The recognition follows a significant achievement at the indoor World Championships in Poland. Kronbergsi achieved a national record in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 1:46.71 and placing 20th overall.

The athlete discussed his performance with 1500m runner Liina Tšernova, noting the conscious mental strategies involved in the demanding race. “These thoughts are about something like: ‘One foot in front of the other,’ ‘Don’t fall over,’ ‘Don’t step on the line,’ ‘Is there still one more circle?’,” Kronbergsi explained. He described the process as a deliberate focus on each step of the race.

Currently completing his final year of a computer science degree at Tartu University, Kronbergsi also enjoys playing water polo.
