As of Monday morning, 822 people in Estonia were hospitalized with COVID-19. According to the head of the infectious diseases department at the Health Department, Hanna Seppa, there were 2,279 new cases of laboratory-confirmed COVID and 1,457 clinically diagnosed cases last week. The infection rate in Estonia is currently 0.84.

Last week, 77 new people were hospitalized with COVID-19. The risk level of COVID-19 in Estonia is currently average, according to the risk matrix for hospital admission. The Ministry of Social Affairs predicts this level will reach the green level (low) by September.

The average number of COVID-19 cases hospitalized in the last seven days has fallen from 5.6 to 4.7. On Monday morning, 75 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, two of them in intensive care. This week’s total number of hospitalized cases is 75, with two deaths recorded.

It is anticipated that the number of hospitalized people will remain at approximately 70 this week. Five thousand six hundred vaccine doses have been administered this week, with 304 new vaccinations starting. One thousand additional doses were administered.

The total coverage of the population with two doses of the vaccine is 63.6 percent. The number of cases of COVID-19 in the whole country has not changed significantly from the previous week. Regions with the most increased cases include Rapla and Jõgeva, while Laagri has seen the most decreased cases.

Viljandi, Saare and Läänemaa have also experienced significant decreases in COVID-19 cases.
