The company’s 2021 Traffic Index assesses traffic jams in 404 cities across 58 countries on six continents. The index, compiled over 11 years of data collection, categorizes cities based on traffic congestion percentages. Bengaluru recorded a 48% traffic jam level, representing the highest percentage among the top ten most congested cities. Notably, Bengaluru is the only city within the top ten to experience a decrease in traffic jams, with a reduction of 3% compared to previous years. The study utilizes data gathered over TomTom’s history to determine traffic levels, resulting in four categories: cities with over 50% traffic jams, 25% to 50%, 15% to 25%, and below 15%.
