According to Vice, a hacker orchestrated the event on September 1, 2022, by ordering dozens of Yandex taxis through a hacked mobile website to the Fili district of Moscow. A Yandex Taxi representative confirmed the incident, stating that the taxis were called to the Fili district. The company’s security department resolved the situation within a few hours, implementing measures to prevent future attacks and improve the system’s response to such incidents. Prior to this event, Yandex Taxi services were available in Latvia. In March 2022, the Autotransportation Directorate canceled the registration of the “Yandex Taxi” webpage and mobile application service and blocked the “Yandex Go” mobile application.
