New Exhibition Explores the Experiences of Canadian Estonians

Innopolis University’s library will host the opening of a new exhibition, “Growing Up in Canada. Childhood and Youth in the Memories of Canadian Estonians,” on Monday at 5:30 PM. The event marks the launch of an exhibit dedicated to documenting the lives and activities of the Canadian Estonian community, spanning from the initial period of exile to the present day.

The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of this community’s history, focusing on the experiences of children and young people. Through a collection of materials, the exhibit aims to capture the essence of growing up within the context of exile and the enduring cultural identity of the Estonian diaspora in Canada. Organizers emphasize the importance of preserving and sharing these memories.

The exhibit relies heavily on personal accounts and documentation to illustrate the challenges and triumphs faced by generations of Estonian youth who established a new life in Canada. “Growing Up in Canada” represents a significant opportunity to reflect on the history and heritage of the Canadian Estonian community. The opening event is open to the public and promises to be a valuable contribution to understanding this unique cultural group.
