IBU Director Praises Otepää Stage, Future Uncertain

Otepää, Estonia – Daniel Böhm, Director of Sports and Competitions for the International Shooting Union (IBU), recently concluded his visit to the Otepää Mark stage, a key event in the international shooting calendar. Böhm, a former athlete himself, expressed appreciation for the organization and logistical support provided during the competition. The 39-year-old Böhm’s career includes significant achievements, notably his role as a champion within the German relay team, securing an Olympic gold medal in 2014.

He acknowledged the positive experience at Otepää, highlighting the efforts of the local organizers. However, Böhm clarified that the success of this particular stage does not definitively determine Otepää’s continued status as a competition venue for the International Shooting Union. The decision regarding Otepää’s future within the MKS (Major Knockout Series) remains subject to broader considerations.

“We are evaluating several factors,” Böhm stated, “including long-term strategic goals and the overall viability of the competition schedule for the shooting union.” Further announcements regarding the MKS schedule are expected in the coming months. The IBU continues to assess the needs of its member nations and the evolving landscape of international shooting events.
