Estonian App to Test Voice Warnings Ahead of Nationwide System Trial

Tallinn, Estonia – The Estonian government is conducting a pilot test of a new voice warning system through the popular “Estonian” mobile application. The initiative aims to ensure the functionality of the system in preparation for a larger nationwide trial scheduled for March 18th. Currently, the testing involves updating the app and incorporating voice alerts.

A separate alert signal is being developed and will undergo further testing at a later date. This current phase is strictly a test, focusing on evaluating the system’s performance. On Monday, March 16th, from 10:00 to 16:00, the State Information System Office (RIA) will conduct the initial testing.

This will involve utilizing both the “Estonian” app and the “Be Ready!” mobile application. The purpose of this trial is to verify the developed features and to build preparedness for the upcoming nationwide system test. The voice warning system is a key component of Estonia’s emergency alert infrastructure, and this testing phase is crucial for ensuring its effective deployment.

The results of this initial assessment will directly inform the broader nationwide rollout.
