Kyle Walker Announces Retirement from England National Team

Kyle Walker, a long-serving defender for the England national team, has announced his retirement from international football after 14 years of service. The 35-year-old concluded his career representing England in 96 matches. “It is a sad decision to make, but I am also incredibly proud of what I have achieved with the England team,” Walker stated.

“This chapter is now closed. We have strived to change perceptions surrounding English football.”

Walker’s international career included a memorable moment, scoring the only goal for England in a September 2023 match against Ukraine. Throughout his time with the national team, Walker played a significant role in the squad.

The defender’s career was primarily spent with Manchester City, where he established himself as a key player and won numerous Premier League and Champions League titles under managers including Thomas Tuchel. He also had a period with Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United. Walker’s retirement marks the end of an era for the England squad, led by Gareth Southgate.

The focus now shifts to the future of the team as they continue to compete on the global stage, including in upcoming tournaments such as the World Cup and European Championships.
