♪ Listen 0:00 South Korea has reported ten deaths following the impact of a powerful storm, “Hinnamnor,” which struck the country on September 7th. Authorities confirmed the fatalities as the storm, one of the strongest in recent decades to affect South Korea, caused widespread damage along the southern coast. In Pohang, seven bodies were recovered from a submerged parking lot and two people were rescued. Additionally, one fatality was reported in Gyeongju. More than 47,000 people were evacuated from affected areas. The storm resulted in damage to approximately 12,000 residential buildings and other structures. Nearly 90,000 households experienced a loss of electricity, though power has been largely restored. Prior to the storm’s arrival, over 600 schools were closed and approximately 250 domestic flights were canceled by local airlines.
