Vitaly Mansky has been declared wanted by Russian authorities. According to a Ministry database, Mansky is under investigation related to Article 128.1 of the Russian Criminal Code. The investigation was initiated following a statement written by director Nikita Mikhalkov, accusing Mansky of slander.

Mikhalkov reportedly instructed Mansky to write the statement 100 times in response to an interview Mansky gave in Riga in 2022. During the interview, Mansky alleged that “not less than 85 percent of the budget” is stolen at the Moscow International Film Festival. When questioned by “Ostrogo Media” regarding the potential intention to prevent his return to Russia, Mansky stated he had been informed to do so “100 times,” and that authorities were now taking action.

Vitaly Mansky currently resides in Latvia. Previously, in an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, Mansky described his initial apartment purchase in Riga, a property with a fireplace and a large size that he later found too cold and small. He subsequently purchased a new apartment approximately “a little away from Dom Square,” which included a garage, a spacious terrace with city views, and was located in a modern building.

Mansky is the president of the “Aartdokfest” documentary film festival and the “Lavr” award for non-fiction cinema and television. His filmography includes titles such as “Jewish Happiness,” “The Body of Lenin,” and “Putin. A Leap Year.”
