The Estonian player, ranked 127th in the Badminton World Federation, secured the victory with two closely contested matches. In the opening round, Kuuba defeated Vlada Ginga of Romania 11:21, 21:15, 21:19. Subsequently, she overcame Azkya Aliefa Ruhanda of Switzerland 21:16, 16:21, 21:18. Kuuba progressed to the quarterfinal round where she faced Juliana Viana Vieira, the top-seeded Brazilian and current Pan American champion. Kuuba lost the match 16:21, 12:21.
