♪ Listen 0:00 Police in Riga and Rye, Latvia, have confiscated over 105 plants and approximately 18 kilograms of dried marijuana following the discovery of two illegal cultivation sites. The State Police initiated an investigation on August 31st in Jurmala regarding the possible sale and storage of illegal narcotic substances. On Monday, September 5th, officers conducted a search and rescue operation in Imanta, resulting in the arrest of a 1987-year-old man for the sale of 51 grams of marijuana for 350 euros. Following the arrest, police searched the man’s residences in Riga and Rye. In Riga, a marijuana farm was discovered containing approximately 11 kilograms of dried marijuana, 30 seedlings (approximately 4 kilograms), and various equipment including lamps, fans, thermostats, and scales. In Rye, a separate marijuana farm was found, yielding approximately seven kilograms of dried marijuana, 75 seedlings (approximately 4 kilograms), and similar equipment. The exact weight of the seized substances is pending laboratory analysis. The man is currently under investigation, and the decision regarding a measure of restraint will be made in the coming days.
