The veterinarian cited a range of health issues commonly associated with the breeds as his primary reason for advising against them.

He also noted the significant financial burden that specialized care for these dogs can often create for owners. Furthermore, Anvari highlighted certain temperamental traits he observed as undesirable in a companion animal. The five breeds he listed are the Alaskan Malamute, the Siberian Husky, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, the Boerboel, and the Xoloitzcuintli.
