Estonia is addressing a significant issue with its vehicle register. Approximately 219,573 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are listed in the traffic register, however, the accuracy of this data is questioned as many vehicles’ current status is unknown. The Riigikogu has passed the first reading of a bill designed to streamline the process of removing vehicles from the register if they are no longer in use. The legislation focuses on simplifying the procedures for declaring vehicles as ceased to exist within the register.
