The Forest Brothers bunker in Viljandi County, Estonia, will be temporarily closed to public visits from April 8, 2024, at 10:22 BBNS. The bunker, the largest object related to the forest brothers history in Estonia, is authentically restored and open for visits. Due to ongoing exercises, the Viljandi County village administration is requesting that visitors refrain from accessing the bunker from Monday through Thursday.

An announcement regarding the exercises is posted at the beginning of the pedestrian path leading to the bunker, and the path is closed to the public. The Estonian Defence Forces are utilizing armed guards during the exercises. Located in the woods of the Viljandi village between Holstre and Muustla, the bunker burned twice – in 1945 and 2016.

The village administration initiated a restoration project in 2021, recognizing the bunker as a valuable historical object accessible to the public. The bunker features a wood stove, six bunk beds, and a tunnel connecting the two entrances. The forest brothers bunker is associated with the history of resistance fighters during the Soviet occupation.
