The Virumaa Teater celebrated 50 and 10 years of operation on March 9, 2023. Fifty years ago, on the eve of the New Year, a jury convened at the Vilde kolhoosi club to select the best book on the life and work of farmers published in 1972 and to award the subsequent agricultural literature prize. Chairman Erich Erilt led the jury, which unanimously determined that the prize should be awarded to “Kivid ja Leib I” by Egon Ranneti, published in the previous year. Ten years prior, discussions had centered around several projects in Rakvere, including the renovation of the Pärnu Music Hall, the construction of an extension for the hall, and the landscaping of the surrounding square. Other projects discussed included the restoration of the roof of the hill, the Kauba street viaduct, Rakvere plaza, and the Hill Hotel. The Virumaa Teater has been a central institution within the region for both of these anniversaries.
