The Tallinn Health School (Tallinna Tervishoiu Kõrgkool) held a diploma ceremony on January 27, 2023, at Alexela Concert Hall. Over two hundred graduates, including those earning degrees in nursing, dentistry, optometry, and midwifery, received their bachelor’s and master’s diplomas. Minister of Education and Science of Estonia, Tinus Luukas, addressed the students, emphasizing their responsibility in maintaining and restoring public health.

Several graduates shared their future plans. Viktor Lubarets, a nursing graduate, noted current challenges within Estonian healthcare, specifically addressing staffing shortages and long wait times. He intends to initially work in Tallinn’s emergency services before considering opportunities abroad.

He described his training as valuable, highlighting the practical experience gained alongside experienced professionals. Anya Zapevalova and Diana Lisunik, optometry graduates, expressed their desire for optometry to be recognized as a healthcare profession. They plan to continue working in Estonia, with potential opportunities arising from master’s degree requirements in certain countries.

Diana recounted challenges interacting with older patients in an optical setting, emphasizing the importance of effective communication. Victoria Evart highlighted the relatively new optometry field in Estonia and advocated for increased public health awareness education, stating her intention to eventually relocate to another European country. Veronika Mirianashvili intends to work as a family doctor in Estonia, citing a smooth and easy educational experience.

Liisa Guubar plans to work as a nurse at the Mustamäe Regional Hospital (PERH) in Estonia, but also considers relocating to Europe due to higher salaries. She described negative interactions with experienced medical staff during her training and acknowledged the challenges of dealing with difficult patients. Anna Bogatyry emphasized the current shortage of healthcare professionals in Estonia.

All graduates expressed their commitment to their professions within Estonia.
